Holiday FAQ

December 2011 Update

Thanks to everyone who donated in our 2010 Holiday Campaign!

Postcards have been sent out this past week, though you might notice a Chicago postal mark. Our final budget ended up being more than $100,000, and while the team was able to raise almost that amount, we didn’t quite make the whole thing.

This meant that any final dollars needed to go the bridge completion (and Canchias community), and so we saved some money by mailing our postcards from Chicago instead of Honduras, and while we were able to send out the artisan crafts, the commemorative calendars didn’t make it. We very much apologize for this, but please know that every dollar counted — and went to the project, above all.

Please contact a team member if you have any more questions, and again, we thank you for both your generosity and your understanding.

Q. I don’t like putting my credit card info on the web.  How do I donate via snail mail?

A. Please send a check with ‘Canchias Agricultural Bridge’ written in the memo line to the following address:

Engineers Without Borders USA-CPC
c/o Canchias Holiday Bridge Campaign
PO Box 7740
Chicago, Illinois, 60680-7740

Q. If I donate to the project in lieu of a gift for a loved one, how do I let them know?

A. If you give a gift in honor of another, please click on the image below

to download a certificate to give to your loved one for their holiday present! Print it out and fill in the blank with the person’s name you would like to share this gift with.

Q. I would like my donation prize to be sent to a different address than myself.  How do I do that?

A. Clicking the ‘Donate Now’ tab will take you to the online donation information form.  Under the ‘Contact Information’ heading enter the address you would like items shipped to.  Be sure to enter the proper billing address for your credit card under the ‘Donation Information’ heading.  Warning: The email address entered will receive a receipt from EWB-USA for the donation, so be careful if this gift is a surprise!

Q.  When can I expect to receive my donation prize ($25-$100 donation levels only).

A. Donation information entered will be collected by EWB-USA and distributed back to the Chicagoland Professionals Chapter of EWB in February.  The implementation trip for bridge construction is happening over an 8 week span between mid-February and early May.  Items sent from or purchased in Honduras may take up to a month for delivery.

Q. Why does the donation page say ‘Honduras-Comayagua Project’ and not ‘Honuras-Canchias’?

A. All donations go through EWB-USA, the national chapter of EWB.  EWB-USA lists projects by the state/region the community is located in.  Canchias is in the Honduran state of Comayagua.
